News

In order to read news you will need to tell StarGate where your news server is locate.

Command Buttons

User - User name to use to login.

Password - Password to authenticate userid

News Server - The name of your news server. If you are unsure please contact your Internet Service Provider.

Port Number - The port to connect to. The default is 119.

OK - Save changes.

Cancel - Close the window

Getting News Groups

Once you have enter the above settings you will now need to get the entire news group listing from your news server. StarGate archive already includes the entire news group. You will not need to do this. If you want to refresh your news group listing then you will need to download it again. Typically it will take about 10 minutes on a 33K connection to download the entire news group. It is about 1.5 Megs or more.

To get the news group listing goto the News menu in StarGate and select "Get NEWS group names" menu item.
